THE PATH TO WEALTH IS OWNING EQUITY IN US TECH PRE IPO COMPANIES.

why is owning equity in a business important to becoming rich?

“If you only rent out your time, you can make some money but it will be hard to gain financial freedom. You need a business earning for you while you sleep or you are in vacation.” Naval Ravikant

People think you can create wealth, make money through work, but truth is that it’s probably not going to work.

Even in highly paid jobs, like doctor, lawyer, engineer, your income is still dependant on the hours you put in. That is what Nassim Taleb calls “Mediocristan”, meaning the change in the results cannot deviate very much from the mean: X hours will more or less always give you Y returns. There is a finite number of hours you can add to the equation. When you sleep, you are not earning, when you are in vacation, you are not earning, and when you are between jobs or retired? Not earning either, unless you own equity.

Of course, you can create your own business, your own brand, product, or process. This is the express way to wealth: creating and owning, the brand, the intellectual property, the risk and the accountability.

Investing in a successful business is the second best option to own the upside opportunity that a business will do well in the future. You want to own equity, even as a small investor buying stocks, but you will need ownership to become wealthy.

And the best products, brands and intellectual properties, with the most upside, can be found in private, tech companies from the United States. If you can get someone to sell you some of their stock-options into these business, before they go public, you have a very good chance of making wealth.
