Boxabl’s Tiny Homes: Affordable, Fast, and Flexible

Boxabl aims to change how people build homes. They offer a quick and affordable option compared to traditional methods.

In an interview, founder Galiano Tiramani discussed the company’s products and future plans.

A common question about our Casitas is how they get services like plumbing and electricity after setup. Tiramani explained that the first product is a 20-by-20-foot room. This room includes a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living area. It can be set up in an hour on a prepared site with utilities and a foundation. The goal is to cut down the time builders and developers need. This allows for finished rooms from the factory in a few hours. This efficient process should lower both costs and the time it takes to build a home.

Tiramani also addressed concerns about needing a concrete slab for the tiny homes. He explained that the rooms can fit any foundation type. The company has a new, better, and cheaper way to build. Boxabl is making many of these buildings in a factory, which speeds up production and cuts costs.

About prices, Tiramani noted the starting cost is $50,000. But, the price for their latest product, the Casita, varies due to high demand and inflation. The company's waitlist has over 130,000 people wanting a Casita, and the delivery time is uncertain. Boxabl is working hard to increase production to meet demand.

The company set up its first factory a year ago and is moving into a second factory next door soon. They are also developing a third factory, which they hope will be worth a billion dollars.

How much is a Boxabl Casita

The Boxabl Casita has a base price of $60,000 for the modular version. This price includes a finished 361-square-foot home with full-size appliances, a bathroom, heating, cooling, and essential hookups.

Shipping costs range from $3 to $10 per mile, adding to the final price. For instance, shipping a house from Las Vegas to New York could cost up to $25,000 extra. But, since these homes fold up, shipping costs are much lower than those of standard modular homes, making them more affordable for buyers.

Tiramani mentioned that people can use these tiny homes in various ways. They can serve as accessory dwelling units in backyards, form small villages, or even create larger developments. The company can stack and connect its rooms, creating a design that accommodates various types of buildings, including traditional single-family homes and large multifamily apartments.

Lastly, Tiramani talked about partnering with cities to provide housing for homeless people. He noted that many local governments have shown interest and are eager to increase the supply of affordable housing for those in need.

In summary, Casitas offer a unique solution to the affordable housing crisis. They can be built quickly and at a lower cost than traditional homes.

About the Company

Boxabl, founded in 2017, is a construction technology company that creates affordable, modular housing solutions. Headquartered in Las Vegas, it designs and manufactures foldable, prefabricated homes that are easy to transport and set up. The company aims to revolutionize the housing market by providing innovative, cost-effective alternatives to traditional construction methods.

Boxabl isn’t just a quirky prefab company—it’s at the intersection of massive real estate, infrastructure, and affordability megatrends.

With housing shortages accelerating across urban and suburban markets, investors are increasingly drawn to solutions that can be scaled quickly and deployed flexibly. Boxabl’s unique selling proposition—low-cost, code-compliant units deliverable in hours—offers the kind of platform scalability that institutional capital seeks.

The company’s growth is fueled by multiple converging factors:

  • Rising demand for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in California and across the U.S.

  • State and federal incentives for affordable housing development

  • A push by cities to fast-track modular, factory-built units as a response to housing crises

  • The scalability of a productized housing solution, enabling developers to reduce both cost and construction time

Unlike traditional real estate plays, Boxabl functions more like a vertically integrated manufacturing company with real estate distribution. That’s part of what makes it so attractive to investors looking for exposure to the “Tesla of housing” thesis.

In addition to private investors, Boxabl has received attention from notable institutions and governments seeking large-scale deployment of its homes. From disaster relief housing to veterans’ programs to ADU villages, the use cases are multiplying—and so is investor interest.
